“What if one of us can be the limb when another of us needs a hand?”
West Midlands Ownership Hub needed an energetic and striking campaign film to showcase the brilliance of employee-ownership – a better, more democratic way to do business. And to make places, to play, to create and inspire.
Be Part of It combines imagery, dance, beatbox and a specially-commissioned poem from Birmingham Poet Laureate Jasmine Gardosi.
Featuring:
Dance Co-operative Birmingham a co‑op of professional dancers
The Developer Society Digbeth‑based workers co-op and creative agency
Glue Collective a worker co‑op of artists and community workers developing unused plots of land
Hockley Mint employee-owned manufacturers and suppliers of jewellery and precious metals.
The Ownership Hub is a partnership between the West Midlands Combined Authority, Co‑operatives UK and the Employee Ownership Association, funded by Power to Change.
What they say
What a complete and utter joy it has been working with media co-op. On top of being shit-hot and knowing what they are doing, media co-op are the very model of collaborative working. Exactly what I was looking for. Everyone involved really appreciated being able to contribute creatively, and it’s a better film for it.
I am left tingling with excitement: it’s one of the best feelings in the world – having a story you want to tell and finding such a glorious way to tell it.
