Animating with Primary Kids

Time for Inclusive Education

“What I want everyone to learn from our film is that bullying and discrimination aren’t ok.” “All the scenarios are things that happened in real life to actual people”.

Time for Inclusive Education runs workshops in Primary schools to end homophobic and transphobic bullying and promote inclusion.

They couldn’t find any videos on the theme suitable for Primary kids – so they came up with the idea of children making their own films.

Here’s a 4-minute glimpse behind the scenes, as the children identify the issues, work out what they want to say, and decide the look of their film.

What they say

The media co-op staff worked so well with the young people – that was a real strength! The young people definitely enjoyed themselves, and developed lots of skills around technology and communication, and had a good time. Anything that gives them an opportunity to have their voice heard is really important. And the animations are great.
