media co-op has an exciting paid 4 month internship opportunity for a talented UX / Developer with a progressive digital production company (that’s us).
media co-op is a multi award-winning and proudly ethical digital media production company. We established ourselves in 2004 with the aim of working on projects for social good.
You will work as part of a small team delivering bespoke websites and online/mobile services for clients whose requirements are often distinct from those of mainstream media. As the basis of this we are developing an in-house platform built on the Python Django Framework with a strong emphasis upon UX that is tailored to our clients needs and working practices.
As it’s an internship, you will be supported in your role by the team, with opportunities to train and develop.
Our approach combines in-depth participatory design processes with high-quality innovative media production, bridging film, television, online and mobile. We want you to become an integral part of this, learning from and then adding to and extending our skills base.
You will have a commitment to and experience of working with third sector and voluntary organisations, an enthusiasm for and awareness of participatory design methods, and a working familiarity with interaction design theory, along with the ability to implement this in CSS and JavaScript with frameworks and tools such as SASS, Compass, jQuery and AngularJS. Knowledge of Python and Django are desirable but you will receive training in these as part of the internship. We are not looking for someone with advanced skills but rather someone with demonstrable ability – at least one completed project under their belt, who has a keen interest in developing a career in this specialist sector. Most of all we want someone who can think visually and code intelligently, work closely with people and put the needs and capabilities of our clients to the forefront of their work.
We value difference and are committed to equal opportunities and to reflecting the society we live and work in. We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.
Pay: Living wage, £7.85 p/h
