Hillpark School’s Young Co-op teamed up mediaco-op to make a short movie for the UK Film Council’s prestigious ‘First Light Movies’ scheme. Half the pupils are from the school’s Autism Unit, and thier film “I Know Her Kind” dramatises the misunderstandings faced by teenagers on the austism spectrum.

They told us they found film-making with mediaco-op’s tutors “awesome, inspiring, spectacular, fab, exciting, amazing and fun”.

Julie MacRae, Hillpark teacher and the Young Co-op’s facilitator said “Teamwork can be difficult for young people on the autism spectrum, but the partnership with mediaco-op gave us a wonderful opportunity to do something much more ambitious than we could have done on our own.” The film is due to premiere in June 2010.
