media co-op is offering a 4-month paid Internship for a UX / User-centred Designer interested in social histories and online archives
media co-op is a multi award-winning and proudly ethical digital media production co-operative, set up in 2004 to work on projects for social good.
You will work as part of the team delivering a new online archive for the Woodcraft Folk, a unique UK-based movement for children and young people dedicated to working in nature and educating for social change. You will contribute to the realisation of the project and participate in other media co-op activities.
As it’s an Internship, you will be supported in your role by the team, with opportunities to train and develop.
Our approach combines in-depth participatory design processes with high-quality innovative media production, bridging film, television, online and mobile. We want you to become an integral part of this, learning from and then adding to and extending our skills base.
You will have a commitment to and experience of working with third sector and voluntary organisations, an enthusiasm for and awareness of participatory design methods, and a working familiarity with interaction design theory and current web design methodologies for building responsive and inclusive sites. We are not looking for someone with advanced skills but rather someone with demonstrable ability – at least one completed project under their belt – who is on the same wavelength as us and has a keen interest in developing a career in this specialist sector. Most of all we want someone who can think visually and code intelligently, work closely with people and put the needs and capabilities of those we work with directly to the forefront of their work.
We value difference and are committed to equal opportunities and to reflecting the society we live and work in. We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.
