The Robertson sisters – Elspeth, Agnes and Ethel – donated their shares in the family business to create The Robertson Trust in 1961. Since then, the Trust has grown to become Scotland’s largest independent grant-giving trust, and has provided over £300 million in funding to support the country’s vibrant third sector.

When The Robertson Trust approached us looking for a film that captured their values, goals, and ethos to celebrate their 60th birthday, we relished the challenge. After all, there’s no clear way to distill over half a century of history and aspirations into one film!

We decided to focus on case studies held together in chapters and accented by elegant animation. After a long period of development, we travelled the length and breadth of Scotland to interview some of the projects The Robertson Trust funded.

The 14-minute film shows the Trust’s values and ethos, but keeps the focus on human stories and emotion.

The Robertson Trust were so delighted with our work that they transcribed our interviews into case studies for their Robertson Trust at 60 booklet.
