Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People wanted promote their Seven Golden Rules for Participation, demonstrating that all children – no matter what their abilities and disabilities – have the right to participate in decisions that affect their lives.
We filmed in a special school where the children are non-verbal, following pupils and teachers to bring to life the way the Golden Rules for Participation can work in practice.
What they say
‘The young people were active participants in the film; they were not its subjects. We felt that media co-op didn’t just understand this; they believed it. The team treated everyone involved in the project with dignity, respect and equality. We were consistently impressed with the media co-op team. Creativity and attention to detail is a fabulous combination’. Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People
