Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People wanted a film to explain how their 7 Golden Rules for Participation can work in a special school where the children are non-verbal and have the right to participate in decisions that affect their lives.
What we did
We followed a few pupils and one teacher to bring to life the way the Golden Rules work in practice. “The young people were active participants in the film; they were not its subjects” commented SCCYP. “We felt that media co-op didn’t just understand this; they believed it. The team treated everyone involved in the project with dignity, respect and equality”.
What they say
“We were consistently impressed. We enjoyed working with people who looked at our film from all viewpoints: from the top of a mountain and close up with a magnifying glass. Creativity and attention to detail is a fabulous combination”.
