Think About it: Say No to Abuse

“mediaco-op delivered what they said they would:  a very good quality film and an inclusive and participative process. The style of working is very important to us and I was so impressed by their commitment. All the participants felt well supported and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everyone has been really impressed by the films. The quality and subtly make such a difference in making it credible: the characters’ emotions are on the screen in front of you, and you can’t help see what they’re feeling."

People with learning disabilities can be vulnerable to abuse – emotional, financial, or sexual. Enable wanted a training film to help people with learning disabilities, and those who support them, to identify abuse and gain the confidence to say no.

Working in a participatory way with a non-professional cast who have learning disabilities themselves, we created three different scenarios. Each first illustrates an abusive situation, and then shows an alternative, with the learning disabled person finding assertive ways to say no to abuse.
